     Message from the PTA President

On behalf of the entire Lakeridge PTA Board of Directors, I want to extend a big warm welcome to all returning and new families to Lakeridge Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer and it was filled with joy, laughter, and just the right amount of “I’m bored” moments for your kids to be excited to be at Lakeridge this week.

The Lakeridge PTA Board and all its volunteers have been working to support the Lakeridge administration to design a year that will be a meaningful one for our children and our families. Building upon the work that the Mercer Island School District (MISD) is doing on ensuring belonging for each student, our Board is committed this year to ensure we continue to develop, foster and facilitate holistic experiences that not only enhance the academic and social curriculum, but also support all our children and the diverse interests and needs they have.

This is through enrichment and program experiences during school hours, such as the Lakeridge Garden Walkers Club, Bike Rodeo and the IDEA Project or after school hours such as Science Fair, Heritage Night and the Showcase Art Show - to name a few. Throughout it all, we plan to support our staff - through Staff Appreciation events, as Room Parents and as Library Aides.

None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers - which include a wonderful mix of stay-at-home, part-time and full-time parents and family members, and I invite you to join us in strengthening our school and our community. Please sign up through this Sign Up Genius to volunteer your time - we have opportunities to support just once, or throughout the year, whatever works for your schedule. We could not do what we do without your help and support!

All our activities are possible because of your generous donation to our ASK campaign - your participation is critical to funding our learning support, curriculum and enrichment programs, and parent and teacher support! If you are able to give, it is deeply appreciated - and we thank you for your donation.

I am excited to meet many of you - and invite you to meet the entire Board and many of our PTA volunteers at the Welcome Coffee on the first day of school, Wednesday August 30, 2023 from 9:15-10:30 in the MPR. We will be hosting an activities fair for you to learn about and sign up for many of the offerings we help facilitate for our children, and will gladly answer any questions you may have. Stay tuned, also, for our Fall Family Picnic, to be held at Lakeridge on September 14th - it’s a fantastic way to meet or reconnect with other families!

In the meanwhile, please feel free to reach out any time with feedback, ideas or any questions. We are so excited for another great year at Lakeridge!

With warmth,

Sarah Karim

It's that time again - time to volunteer to support your child's class as a room parent! Thinking to yourself, "WHAT?!?! I don't have time for that!" or maybe even "I work full time, I can't possibly do this!" Guess what... You CAN :) Being a room parent comes in many shapes and forms. And many classes even have a small team of room parents sharing the load. It can be a ton of fun, and being a room parent is important - the teachers so love and deserve the added support.
