ROAR of THANKS

Thank you to all that stopped in to support Lakeridge Island Books Day last month. We are so fortunate to have a local book shop that generously supports our school, and a community that supports both! Many families stopped by and shopped, as well as donated snacks and beverages for patrons to enjoy as they browsed. Because of your support and Island Books' generous donation of 15% of the day's proceeds, we raised $1,675 for Lakeridge! Congratulations to Ms. McLyman’s class with over 40% of students stopping in to shop. Their class will receive a $50 gift card to Island Books. Thanks to all for a fun and successful event!

Way to go Co-Chairs, Hilarie Galloway and Maura Velamoor for leading this successful fundraising event!

MISD
Receiving MISD Notifications On School Closures and Weather Delays

The winter season is now in full swing.  Make sure you are signed up to receive notifications if and when we have delays/school closure.

The Mercer Island School District communicates information on school closures and delays in a variety of ways, all listed below. We have created a Weather Closure/Delay Page on our website that explains the District’s inclement weather plan, how we decide to delay or cancel school, and provides the same communication information below.

  • FlashAlert- FlashAlert is the platform school districts use to communicate school closure information to local TV and radio stations. You can sign up to Flash Alert. You can also download the FlashAlert mobile app on iOS or Android and enable the app to send you push notifications on school closures and delays.
  • Text Messaging- Families can opt-in to receive text notifications from our School Messenger system about school closures. To receive text notifications, first, we recommend you Log in to your Skyward Account, select “Family Access”, and click on the ”Skylert” link to verify your cell phone number is listed correctly to receive text notifications.
  • Email- Our School Messenger system will send an email to District families and students about closures.
  • Website- The MISD website will show information.
  • Social Media- MISD social media platforms will be updated with information. Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.
  • Local Media- Local radio and TV stations also will provide information regarding school closures.
2024-25 Kindergarten Registration Information Night | January 30 at 6pm

Heads-up! Kindergarten registration for the 2024-25 school year begins on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

All four elementary schools in the Mercer Island School District will host a Kindergarten Information Night on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 6-7pm for kindergarteners enrolling for the 2024-25 school year.  The Information Night at each elementary school is a great opportunity for families of future kindergarteners to ask questions of the school Principal and find out why we believe MISD is the best option for your family as you start on your education journey.
